SugaRman Paul is a South African house music trio, formed in Johannesburg, Gauteng, in 2011. The trio includes producers Man-K, Paul Solaris and vocalist Sugar.
SagaRman was formed when Khutso Ramela (Man-k) and Tumi Gumbi (Sugar) met and began making music together. They decided to form a duo named SugaRman. They started recording their music at Headroom Studios where they met with Paul Solaris who was also producing house music. After recording their first single with him, Paul was approached to join the duo and they became the trio “SugaRman Paul”.
They combined to introduce a new sound to the house music scene. Their passion and drive for good music has led them to the industry with a banging spirit to give house lovers a blend of pure rooted sounds.
Meanwhile, Solaris himself recalled his reasons for joining the duo. “ When they first came to the studio to record their songs, I knew there was something about them that I can work with. We then decided to produce “Somebody like you” which was magic and got played on Oskido’s show I Believe, on Metro Fm. After that we never looked back and started working together.” All three members of SugaRman Paul had individually established their music careers before they formed the Trio.
Born Khutso Ramela an aspirant and talented Dj/house music producer from Protea Glen south of Johannesburg, started his career in 2007 at the age of 15. His passion for producing music began when he installed FL Studio software on his Pc and started exploring it until he managed to produce his first track titled “Street Bash”.
He started producing even more tracks, sharpening his production skills then spreading the tracks at school for people to listen. He was recognized by Dj Veany (blackwhole), who mentored him and teached him more tricks on the FL Studio software.
Man-K later joined the disbanded Crew Of Knights which brought recognition for him through their music which was playlisted on the Yfm Hot 99 dance show hosted by Oskido. He also worked on some projects for Mobi Dixon(dj mobi) of Dance Is Kulcha Records and Paso Doble of Melomania Records.
Man-K is now getting recognised internationally and has released several banging tracks digitally. His music can be found on digital stores like Afrodesiamp3, Junodownload, Djdownload, itunes and other sites.
Paul Solaris grew up in Alexandra Township, north of Johannesburg. Young and polite but not apologetic for his musical talents. Paul Solaris is undoubtedly a producer/deejay at heart, passionate about the art form. Started dj’ing at the age of 12 years using tape decks, young Paul knew he had found his love for music.
He started producing in 2005 before he enrolled at a music school (2006) to learn the piano and more about music. In 2008 he went to study for a diploma in Sound Engineering and was awarded the Best Music Production award, Best Mixing and Mastering award, Best Radio Production award and Best Dj award.
During the year 2008, he managed to take second place in the Axe remix competition hosted by DJU and YFM at the Southern African Music Conference, ever since that moment Paul has never looked back and had his music listed on the Hot 99 dance show hosted by Oskido on Yfm. In 2009 he released a 3 track single (REFLECTIONS) which was playlisted on all relevant radio stations. He aims to take the South African dance music standard to a greater level. He is god’s gift to house music. “One thing I love about house music is that, I can go to unknown dimensions of expression and still remain simple”.
He has released an album (HEADROOM ORIGINALS) in may 2011 with Dj Spinno which is an umixed house compilation of Headroom’s finest house producers. His music can also be found on digital stores like Afrodesiamp3, Junodownload, Djdownload, Mixmag and other sites.
Miss Sugar, born Tumi Gumbi started her musical journey at very early age. When girls her age were playing house, she had her grandfather driving her voice training and choir practice. She joined the Westonaria Primary school choir at the age of 9, which won two trophies in the Westrand choir competition. At age 11 she was selected to compete in the Westrand solo voice music competition and won gold on her first try. She went on to winning two more gold medals and a silver in the next 3 years.
In high school she discovered her love for house music and did various projects with producers such as Tylo Parker of the Invaders of Africa. As a poet her song writing also matured and polished with age. She now forms part of the house trio SugaRman Paul which is the freshest music band to hit our ears.
Coming from from a musical backround with K.O from Teargas as her uncle, it’s no surprise why this Sugar is good at what she does.
